Baseball Game Preview: Adair County Indians vs. Marion County Knights

Adair County and Marion County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Indians will host the Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Adair County has three straight wins, Marion County has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Adair County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Hart County on Monday. The Indians put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 15-7 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Adair County got a massive performance out of Alex Martin, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. The Indians are undefeated when Martin posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayton Coomer, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Marion County came up short against Boyle County on Thursday and fell 9-4.

Wyatt Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Landon Craig was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Adair County's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Marion County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Adair County was able to grind out a solid victory over Marion County when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 5-1. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
