Recap: St. Martin Yellow Jackets vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds
This season hasn't been kind to The St. Martin Yellow Jackets, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They took a serious blow against Ocean Springs on Thursday, falling 41-0. St. Martin has struggled against Ocean Springs recently, as their contest on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Logan Jeffreys threw for 60 yards on four of 14 attempts. On the ground, Kevin Reeder rushed for 27 yards.
It was another big night for Will Smith, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Kenderek Weathers made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
St. Martin's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.1 points per game. As for Ocean Springs, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
St. Martin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ocean Springs will be playing at home against Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Meridian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Ocean Springs is ranked fifth).
