Basketball Recap: Pioneer's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Pioneer extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Muhamed Shaath. The Diamondbacks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Harlingen South Hawks 53-50 for which the team can thank Shaath, who posted 25 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Pioneer's points.

Guillermo Castillo was another key player, putting up four points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy.

Pioneer's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Harlingen South, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coincidentally, Pioneer and Harlingen South will both be playing Zapata the next time they take the court. The Hawks will head out to face the Hawks at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Diamondbacks will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
