Softball Recap: Murray Comes Up Short

Murray couldn't beat Crimson Cliffs on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Spartans fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 7-6. The Spartans' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Savana Whitlock spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Zaylee Winterhalder and Summer Stewart stepped up to the plate in a big way. Winterhalder got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Stewart went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Mardi Dow was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Murray's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Crimson Cliffs, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4.

Murray didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-5 victory against Snow Canyon on the 14th. As for Crimson Cliffs, they have also already played their next matchup, an 8-5 win against Enterprise on the 14th.
