Softball Recap: Eustis Panthers vs. Vanguard Knights

With a playoff game on the line, Eustis rose to the challenge on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 16-6 margin over the Vanguard Knights. The result was nothing new for Eustis, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Eustis got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Powhida, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base. Powhida has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lillie Smith, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

On Vanguard's side, Destiny Horcajo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with a home run and two runs. Kaylee Myers was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Eustis pushed their record up to 21-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Vanguard, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6.

As of now, neither Eustis nor Vanguard have any future games scheduled.
