North Augusta skates past Airport with ease

Recap: North Augusta Yellow Jackets vs. Airport Eagles

The North Augusta Yellow Jackets can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They breezed by Airport at home to the tune of 49-16. Winning may never get old, but North Augusta sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Leading North Augusta to victory were Messiah Williams and Celena Grant (new). Williams scored six points along with 14 rebounds, while Grant (new) scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Walker, who scored six points along with three steals.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'sia Booth, who scored four points along with five rebounds. Santana Reese was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Airport struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Augusta racked up 11 assists.

North Augusta is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Airport, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-7.

North Augusta will take on Midland Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Midland Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 180th, while North Augusta is ranked seventh). As for Airport, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Aiken at 6:00 p.m. Aiken will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
