Baseball Game Preview: Ceres Bulldogs vs. Central Valley Hawks

For the second straight game, Ceres will face off against Central Valley. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ceres 3.1, Central Valley 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Ceres' offense. They fell just short of Central Valley by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The shutout was out of character for the Bulldogs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Mario Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Central Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ceres, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.
