Basketball Game Preview: Ferndale Golden Eagles vs. Lynden Lions

Ferndale is 2-8 against Lynden since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ferndale took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 59-32 win over Oak Harbor. That looming 59-32 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Golden Eagles yet this season.

Meanwhile, Lynden put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Bellevue Christian 49-32. The 49-point effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Lynden pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Ferndale, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Ferndale was dealt a bruising 70-20 defeat at the hands of Lynden when the teams last played back in January. Can Ferndale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
