Softball Recap: Union County Makes It Ten in a Row at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union County). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hopkins County Central Storm a 16-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Storm: they've now won six in a row.

Union County got a massive performance out of Jaylen Tackett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Tackett a new career-high. Aspen Davis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Tackett wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Union County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hopkins County Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7-1.
