Baseball Game Preview: Newmarket Mules vs. Portsmouth Christian Academy Eagles

The Newmarket Mules will take on the Portsmouth Christian Academy Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Wednesday, Newmarket made easy work of Wilton-Lyndeborough and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mules.

Meanwhile, while Portsmouth Christian Academy put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Pittsfield. The Eagles blew past the Panthers 14-0. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Cai Summers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Summers was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

In other batting news, Landon Hasty and Andrew Earwood did most of the damage at the plate: Hasty went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Earwood went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was Earwood's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Allen Mcguire, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Portsmouth Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Newmarket's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Portsmouth Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
