Corner Canyon comes up short despite Elina Mortensen's dominant performance

Recap: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Herriman Mustangs

After flying high against the Riverton Silverwolves last Thursday, the Corner Canyon Chargers came back down to earth. Corner Canyon took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Herriman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Corner Canyon in their matchups with Herriman: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Corner Canyon still got an impressive performance from Elina Mortensen, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Mortensen hasn't dropped below 15points for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maia Rhay, who scored 11 points along with five steals.

Corner Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Herriman, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Corner Canyon will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Copper Hills at 7:00 p.m. Copper Hills will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Herriman, they will head out on the road to take on Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverton is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
