Softball Recap: Juneau-Douglas' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Juneau-Douglas dropped their record down to 18-14-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 10-2 to the Colony Knights. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Crimson Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Colony, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 30-8-1. Considering they have won 23 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Colony's part, Kaidence Browning made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Browning has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since May 3rd.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bonnie Schmidt, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alesha Crowther, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Juneau-Douglas nor Colony have any future games scheduled.
