Basketball Recap: North Tahoe Lakers vs. Battle Mountain Longhorns
North Tahoe was the 55-52 winner over Battle Mountain when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The North Tahoe Lakers fell to the Battle Mountain Longhorns 54-49.
Battle Mountain found their leader in sophomore Geovanni Ruvalcaba, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points and three steals. Ruvalcaba's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Brodie Smith was another key player, putting up nine points.
North Tahoe's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Battle Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Coming up, North Tahoe and West Wendover will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. West Wendover will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something North Tahoe surely won't give up without a fight. As for Battle Mountain, they and Incline will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Incline's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
