Softball Recap: Sun Valley Vanguards vs. Bayard Rustin Golden Knights

Sun Valley had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it nine. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bayard Rustin Golden Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in March.

As for Bayard Rustin, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

For Bayard Rustin's part, Ashley Falcone was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Falcone has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
