Basketball Recap: Wadena-Deer Creek Gets the Win

Wadena-Deer Creek hadn't done well against Perham recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines secured a 53-48 W over the Perham Yellowjackets. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 73-39 defeat the last time these two teams met.

When it comes to explaining why Perham lost, don't look at Kaia Anderson. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 14 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. What's more, Anderson also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Regan Hemberger, who posted 11 points.

Wadena-Deer Creek's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Perham, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8.

Wadena-Deer Creek has already played their next contest (against Bertha-Hewitt), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Perham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 85-55 victory against Park Rapids on the 31st.
