Basketball Recap: Helix Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Brian Hammerstrand and Sergio Vazquez + How To Watch

Helix managed to keep up with Torrey Pines until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Highlanders lost 54-32 to the Falcons. The contest marked the Highlanders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Sergio Vazquez and Brian Hammerstrand certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Vazquez shot 42% from the field en route to 12 points, while Hammerstrand posted seven points and five boards. Glenn Payne also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Torrey Pines' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Humphrey led the charge by going 7-for-11 on his way to 19 points and four blocks. Humphrey is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last five games he's played. Jaylan Virgil was another key player, shooting 42% from the field to rack up 17 points.
