Baseball Recap: Pinson Valley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Pinson Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Paul W. Bryant Stampede with a sharp 16-1 win. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Stampede two weeks ago, they had to take a 7-4 loss.

Jaylon Sharpe made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. Pinson Valley is 5-2 when Sharpe posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kirby Reddick was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jamison Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Pinson Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pinson Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Paul W. Bryant, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Coming up, Pinson Valley will take on Brookwood at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinson Valley knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Brookwood likes a good challenge. As for Paul W. Bryant, they will challenge Huffman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Paul W. Bryant has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
