Recap: Belfry Pirates vs. Pike County Central Hawks
The Belfry Pirates suffered their biggest defeat since December 22, 2023 on Friday. Their tough 75-52 defeat to Pike County Central might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Belfry in their matchups with Pike County Central: they've now lost seven in a row.
Belfry's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zade Rash, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Rash is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Hunter Hylton was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Belfry has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Pike County Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belfry will take on Berea at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pike County Central, they will head out on the road to challenge East Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
