Volleyball Recap: Stillwater's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Stillwater unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustang Broncos. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Broncos earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Stillwater started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-17.

When it comes to explaining why Stillwater lost, don't look at Taylor Rattay. Despite the final result, she had 28 digs and three assists. Rattay is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kael Valdois, who had 11 digs.

Stillwater's defeat dropped their record down to 19-12. As for Mustang, their victory bumped their record up to 14-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Stillwater will take on Community Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mustang, they will venture away from home to square off against Norman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
