Recap: Eau Gallie Commodores vs. Central Cobras
The Eau Gallie Commodores's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 16th straight defeat. They were dealt a 86-49 loss at the hands of Central. While losing is never fun, Eau Gallie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 611th, while Central is ranked 76th).
Despite the loss, Eau Gallie still got an impressive performance from Jahaziah Sierra, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Hernandez, who scored eight points.
Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Gayle, who scored 27 points. Gayle is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Christopher Maxon, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Eau Gallie dropped their record down to 2-19 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.
Eau Gallie will head out on the road to square off against Astronaut at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
