Baseball Recap: Western Christian Takes a Loss

Western Christian had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it six. They lost 19-3 to the Country Christian Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pioneers of the 8-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Country Christian, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.

For Country Christian's part, Tyson Smith was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Smith has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Andrew Lee was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Western Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
