Basketball Preview: Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers vs. Winnfield Tigers
Jonesboro-Hodge has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Winnfield Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jonesboro-Hodge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Tigers are ranked 72nd).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Jonesboro-Hodge, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-46 loss to the Bulldogs. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jonesboro-Hodge in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Winnfield scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mansfield 89-56 at home. Winnfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.
Winnfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cl Davis, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Damascus Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Jonesboro-Hodge's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Winnfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Jonesboro-Hodge was taken down by the Tigers 70-39 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Jonesboro-Hodge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
