It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Westminster Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Stoneman Douglas Eagles 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since March 6th.

Westminster Academy let Macie Foster and Riley Rutherford run wild. Foster went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Rutherford went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Dianna Montidoro, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westminster Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Westminster Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Stoneman Douglas, they moved to 11-9 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Westminster Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-6 win against Cooper City on the 22nd. As for Stoneman Douglas, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-2 defeat against Western on the 21st.
