Softball Recap: Hillsboro Wins Going Away Against New Lisbon

Hillsboro barely beat New Lisbon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Rockets 14-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won seven in a row.

Halle Hora made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hora was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Hillsboro got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Cairns, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. What's more, Cairns posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Michelyn Hansen was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Hillsboro picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-3. As for New Lisbon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will square off against Royall at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Lisbon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Necedah at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight.
