Volleyball Recap: Hustisford Falls to Rio in First Game of Season

Hustisford had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Rio Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost three in a row.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hustisford sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 24-26, 15-11.

Hustisford's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layla Thimm, who had 28 digs, five aces, and one block. Another player making a difference was Hailey Pieper, who had 38 digs, eight kills, and three aces.

Hustisford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Valley Christian on the 29th. Rio has also already played their next contest (against Madison La Follette), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
