Recap: Frontier STEM vs. Guadalupe Centers Aztecs
Frontier STEM had to endure a 14-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Guadalupe Centers with a 52-47 victory on Thursday. Frontier STEM's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Guadalupe Centers' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Torres, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Torres grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Christian Gonzalez Mendoza, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Frontier STEM's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7. As for Guadalupe Centers, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
Frontier STEM will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Training Center Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. Training Center Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Guadalupe Centers, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
