Softball Game Preview: Fife Trojans vs. Washington Patriots

Fife is 8-2 against Washington since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Trojans will head out to square off against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Fife fell victim to Puyallup and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 10-0. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Washington also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 7-0 to Orting on Thursday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

Washington saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Washington's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2. As for Fife, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fife has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .516. However, it's not like Washington struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Fife's way against Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Fife made off with a 20-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
