Basketball Recap: Westminster Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Westminster entered their contest against Lovett on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Westminster Wildcats fell just short of the Lovett Lions by a score of 52-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Lions are ranked 233rd).

Lovett was led to victory by Ella Turner and Riley Gallagher. Turner went 7 for 17 on her way to 19 points, while Gallagher went 5 of 12 en route to 18 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gallagher has scored at least a third of Lovett's points.

Westminster's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2. As for Lovett, their win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-3.

Westminster didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-36 defeat against Pace Academy on the 14th. As for Lovett, they will welcome Page at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
