Baseball Game Preview: Jesuit Tigers vs. Countryside Cougars

For the second straight game, Jesuit will face off against Countryside. The Tigers will host the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jesuit 2.2, Countryside 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Jesuit is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They didn't even let Countryside on the board, marking the Tigers' second-straight 9-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Wilson Andersen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bryce Besece was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Robby Santana, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Jesuit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Jesuit is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Countryside, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-9.
