Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dock Mennonite walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs on Monday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 11 runs or more this season.
Dana Delamater made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Dock Mennonite let Riley Gahman and Taelyn Landis run wild. Gahman earned one RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases, while Landis earned three runs and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Avery Kutzner, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Dock Mennonite has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. Looking ahead, Dock Mennonite will square off against Northeast Bradford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight. Maritime Academy Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
