Basketball Recap: Kaidyn King's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Batavia over Lake Park

Batavia was the 47-36 winner over Lake Park when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Batavia Bulldogs took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Park Lancers on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Lancers are ranked 179th).

Batavia lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kaidyn King, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Jansey, who put up 11 points.

The defeat snapped Batavia's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-7 record. As for Lake Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Batavia will face off against Peoria Notre Dame at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lake Park, they will take on Geneva at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.
