Baseball Game Preview: Badin Rams vs. Tampa Catholic Crusaders

The Badin Rams will head out to face off against the Tampa Catholic Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Badin didn't have quite enough to beat Jesuit and fell 3-1. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caleb Driessen was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

Meanwhile, Tampa Catholic hadn't done well against Jesuit recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Crusaders walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers. The win was familiar territory for the Crusaders, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Talan Miranda tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cole Bitman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Carrero, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Tampa Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Badin, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
