Volleyball Recap: Marmaton Valley Takes a Loss

Marmaton Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Humboldt Cubs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-9.

Leading Humboldt to victory were Bailey Daniels and Skylar Hottenstein. Daniels had 13 assists and three digs, while Hottenstein had eight digs and two aces. Those 13 assists gave Daniels a new career-high.

Marmaton Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Humboldt, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Marmaton Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Southern Coffey County on the 20th. As for Humboldt, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Baxter Springs on the 20th.
