Basketball Preview: Winnebago Indians vs. Wakefield Trojans
Winnebago has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Wakefield Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Winnebago, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Winnebago's game was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 51-38 win over Creighton.
Winnebago's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jolon Blackbird, who scored 15 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Tressa BigBear, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. BigBear hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Charlize Frenchman was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Wakefield came up short against the Bears on Friday and fell 44-36. Wakefield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Winnebago's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Wakefield, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Winnebago came up short against the Trojans when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 46-38. Thankfully for Winnebago, Alex Arenas (who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
