Baseball Recap: Beech Takes a Loss

If Beech was feeling good fresh off their 9-0 takedown of Hendersonville on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Buccaneers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lipscomb Academy Mustangs on Friday. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Kaden Powell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Beech: the team is 11-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

Beech has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-13 record this season. As for Lipscomb Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beech will welcome Rossview at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lipscomb Academy, they will host Christ Presbyterian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
