Softball Game Preview: Perrysburg Yellow Jackets vs. Springfield Blue Devils

The Perrysburg Yellow Jackets will face off against the Springfield Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Perrysburg has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Springfield will arrive with three straight wins.

Mentor hit Perrysburg with a four-run sixth inning on Sunday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellow Jackets took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals.

Chloe LaFaso made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Yesenia You, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Springfield earned a 4-1 victory over Bowling Green on Friday.

Perrysburg now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Springfield, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Perrysburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Springfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
