Basketball Game Preview: Sherwood Marksmen vs. Clinton Cardinals

After both having extra time off, the Sherwood Marksmen and the Clinton Cardinals will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clinton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sherwood, who comes in off a win.

While Sherwood didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Archie 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Marksmen have posted since December 18, 2023.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Clinton duked it out withSkyline last Saturday. Clinton lost 65-41 to Skyline. The matchup marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Sherwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Clinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Sherwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Clinton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 56-54. Will Sherwood repeat their success, or does Clinton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
