The Person Rockets will challenge the Southern Alamance Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Person earned a 40-28 win over Cummings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Person's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rylan Phillips, Lucas Betts, and Todd Halljr, who each picked up one sack apiece. Person got some further help from Phillips: he picked up a sack, made 11 total tackles, and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Alamance). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 76-0 victory over Graham. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Southern Alamance's win came from a few key players Person will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jacob Alexander, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Sincere Thompson was another key player, rushing for 64 yards and three TDs.
Southern Alamance was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 384 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Graham only rushed for -13.
Southern Alamance didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jace Rich and Camden Whittemore. Another thorn in Graham's side was Brantley Messick, who picked up three sacks and made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Person now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Southern Alamance, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.
