Football Preview: Seton Catholic Sentinels vs. River Valley Dust Devils
After each having a week off, the Seton Catholic Sentinels and the River Valley Dust Devils will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seton Catholic has given up an average of 34.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Seton Catholic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell 48-38 to Valley Christian last Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in September (31), the Sentinels still had to take the loss.
Despite their defeat, Seton Catholic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Coree Edwards, who rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Edwards showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Fogerty, who picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Meanwhile, River Valley entered their tilt with Wickenburg last Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Wranglers, posting a 71-0 victory. Considering the Dust Devils have won four contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
River Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Shane Steinbeck, Brodee Abell, Riley Gonzalez, and Landon Neufeld picked up one apiece. Steinbeck got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Seton Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for River Valley, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
