Football Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for Liberty Ranch

With a playoff win on the line, Liberty Ranch rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past the Ripon Indians 30-28. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Indians are ranked 354th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Liberty Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andrew Quinn, who rushed for 202 yards and one TD while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Those 202 rushing yards gave Quinn a new career-high. Joe Lara was another key rusher, gaining 150 total yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Liberty Ranch was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 367 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 314 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Liberty Ranch's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. In that department, Soni Takafua was the leader with two sacks.

Liberty Ranch's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.9 points on average over those games. As for Ripon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Liberty Ranch will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. The Hawks' defense better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 34 points per game this season. Ripon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
