Softball Recap: Mahomet-Seymour Wins Going Away Against Danville

Mahomet-Seymour's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Danville Vikings. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 12-1 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Kate Severns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Ainsley Whitaker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Cox, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Mahomet-Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Danville only posted a batting average of .200.

Mahomet-Seymour's win bumped their record up to 14-16. As for Danville, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Looking ahead, Mahomet-Seymour will host Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Danville, they will venture away from home to face off against Champaign Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Maroons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
