Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Santa Rosa Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Santa Rosa Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Cathedral City Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rangers have posted since March 12th.

Santa Rosa Academy got a big performance out of Elijah Brewer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Brewer has posted since back in March. Dominic Zagone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Santa Rosa Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cathedral City only posted a batting average of .286.

The win was the third in a row for Santa Rosa Academy, bringing their record up to 11-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Cathedral City, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Coming up, Santa Rosa Academy will face off against Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Cathedral City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
