Baseball Game Preview: De Smet Jesuit Spartans vs. St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots

The De Smet Jesuit Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the St. Louis HomeSchool P Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. De Smet Jesuit will be strutting in after a victory while St. Louis HomeSchool P will be coming in after a defeat.

De Smet Jesuit barely beat Parkway South the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Patriots on Monday. That looming 9-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Meanwhile, St. Louis HomeSchool P came up short against Webster Groves on Tuesday and fell 7-3.

St. Louis HomeSchool P saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vinny Tornatore, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

De Smet Jesuit's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7. As for St. Louis HomeSchool P, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

De Smet Jesuit skirted past St. Louis HomeSchool P 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
