Softball Game Preview: St. John Paul II Panthers vs. FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers

St. John Paul II has gone a perfect 10-0 against FAMU DRS recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Baby Rattlers at 4:30 p.m. FAMU DRS took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on St. John Paul II, who comes in off a win.

St. John Paul II will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Wewahitchka on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Gators by a score of 10-7.

AMANDA THOMPSON made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, D'NAE MOSSE was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. LANELL LOUIS also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

St. John Paul II kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wewahitchka only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, FAMU DRS was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 18-3 to Rickards.

St. John Paul II's record now sits at 8-12. As for FAMU DRS, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Everything went St. John Paul II's way against FAMU DRS when the teams last played back in March, as St. John Paul II made off with a 12-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
