The Mountain View Toros will square off against the Williams Field Black Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
Mountain View saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of St. Mary's by a score of 7-6. The Toros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chasyn Cook was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cook was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Duke Henrie made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Max Germaine was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Williams Field came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Sidewinders 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Black Hawks have posted since March 13, 2024.
Ryder Kowalczyk and Nikolas Ramirez did most of the damage at the plate: Kowalczyk went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Ramirez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance gave Kowalczyk a new career-high in RBI.
Williams Field pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mountain View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Williams Field struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mountain View came out on top in a nail-biter against Williams Field in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, sneaking past 10-9. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Williams Field have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
