Football Game Preview: Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers vs. Twin Valley Raiders

The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers will challenge the Twin Valley Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lampeter-Strasburg comes in on six and Twin Valley on eight.

On Friday, Lampeter-Strasburg made easy work of Eastern Lebanon County and carried off a 36-14 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Pioneers just coasted through the last quarter.

Lampeter-Strasburg's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Colby Dejessa, who rushed for 135 yards and one touchdown, and Cole Lopez, who rushed for 52 yards and one score. Lopez also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, defending one pass and snagged an interception.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lampeter-Strasburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 18 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Peter Fiorello: he added nine points with three field goals and another three kicking extra points. One of the most memorable scores? An impressive punt return for a touchdown from Lopez.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Twin Valley and Wyomissing meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 28-6 win. The 28-point effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Lampeter-Strasburg's record is now 7-1. As for Twin Valley, their record now sits at 8-0.

Lampeter-Strasburg strolled past Twin Valley in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 31-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
