Basketball Game Preview: Collinsville Kahoks vs. Father McGivney Catholic Griffins

Having just played yesterday, the Collinsville Kahoks will head out on the road to face off against the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Collinsville is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Edwardsville on Tuesday. Collinsville took a blow against Edwardsville, falling 55-26. While losing is never fun, the Kahoks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Tigers are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Father McGivney Catholic waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Blackhawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-22 victory. The Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season.

Father McGivney Catholic is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. As for Collinsville, they dropped their record down to 11-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Collinsville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Father McGivney Catholic in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 40-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Collinsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
