Basketball Game Preview: Beloit Trojans vs. Republic County Buffaloes

Beloit is 10-0 against Republic County since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Beloit Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Republic County Buffaloes. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Beloit came up short against Sacred Heart and fell 66-56.

Loss or not, Beloit got some senior leadership from Eli Johnson and Jackson Cheney. Johnson went 6 of 8 en route to 13 points and eight boards, while Cheney went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Luke Cheney was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Republic County). They secured a 62-56 W over Valley Heights on Friday.

Beloit's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Republic County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-12.

Everything came up roses for Beloit against Republic County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 60-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Beloit since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
