Soccer Game Preview: Central vs. Classical

The Central Knights will square off against the Classical Purple at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Central and East Providence had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Knights lost 4-1 to the Townies on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while East Providence are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Classical kept a clean sheet against Cumberland on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Clippers 1-0. The victory was some much needed relief for Classical as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-9-2. As for Classical, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Central took their victory against Classical when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 4-1 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Purple turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
