Basketball Recap: Elgin Takes a Loss

Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 77-45 loss at the hands of the Mt. Gilead Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Comets of the 66-51 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2025.

Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Mt. Gilead, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elgin will square off against Upper Scioto Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Comets will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.53 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mt. Gilead, they will challenge Lucas at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
